A community-rooted nonprofit serving Cameron and Willacy Counties since 1981.
Established in 1981 by volunteers, the Family Crisis Center provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. We also offer extensive educational and violence-prevention programs throughout Cameron and Willacy counties.
A 9-member Board of Directors governs the organization, setting policy and being responsible for the financial solvency of the agency. The board meets monthly and employs and supervises the Executive Director. We currently have 23 full-time staff members and volunteers who perform duties and provide services that benefit our clients.
Educational programs dealing with the dynamics of family violence and sexual assault — and information about our services — are presented to civic organizations, church groups, and professionals in appropriate service areas. Abuse-prevention programs are also presented to students of all ages, from elementary schools through college.
In addition to client-centered and educational services, our staff trains new volunteers in both Harlingen and Raymondville to perform publicity, fundraising, and clerical duties.
